The Rev. Lowrey was ordained in 2004, after receiving his Master of Divinity from Candler School of Theology at Emory University. Lang served at Saint Anne's Episcopal Church for 7 years as seminarian, Deacon, and Associate Rector. While at St. Anne's, he was in charge of youth programs, pastoral care, and worship. Prior to receiving his call to the ordained priesthood, Lang was chairman and CEO of several Fortune 500 companies.

How does a CEO become a priest? Why would a CEO become a priest? We'll have more to say on this subject, but in the meantime, listen to Lang's sermon given just before starting St. Benedict's. You can also contact Lang at 678-279-4301 or email him to find out.

*Not to be confused with the Vicar of Dibley

What is a Vicar?

In the Episcopal Church, the title generally applies to the priest in charge of a mission congregation. The term is derived from the Latin word vicarious meaning substitute since the Vicar represents the Bishop in the mission area.

Historically in England, as early as the 12th century,Vicars were appointed to act as substitutes or “vicarious representatives” of the Bishops to serve congregations.
